Based in Lamorlaye, close to the renowned Chantilly training centre, Hugo Merienne is one of the most progressive National Hunt trainers in France.
Before establishing his own successful training operation, Hugo gained valuable experience with leading trainers in France, Britain and Ireland, including a hugely valuable spell with Willie Mullins. This international grounding has helped him develop a patient and thoughtful approach, with each horse given the time and programme it needs to fulfil its potential.
A fluent English speaker, Hugo has already trained horses to succeed at the highest level of French jump racing, including the Champion Grade 1-winning juvenile hurdler St Donat’s. His yard combines excellent horsemanship with a strong understanding of how to develop young National Hunt horses, both to run in France and to continue their careers in the UK and Ireland.
I work closely with Hugo when sourcing young prospects and established jumpers for owners seeking the benefits of having a racehorse trained in France, or for international clients looking to purchase horses to race in the UK and Ireland.
