Goffs UK October Sale purchase Miakoda had taken a few runs to find his feet since moving to James Owen, but the son of Blue Point got off the mark with a taking success at Newcastle yesterday under Kieran Shoemark.

Sent straight into the lead, Kieran managed to get across to the rail from the widest pitch in stall 1 and dictated a sensible pace in front. Miakoda settled well, and responded generously to pressure when strongly challenged inside the final quarter-mile. He drew clear in the run to the line and it was a big step forward on his previous efforts.

The three year old has plenty of options in April and I’m sure James will look to have him out again soon. Congratulations to his owners, Pimlico Racing Syndicates and Sangwin Holdings Ltd.
