€110,000 Quinte win for Never Risk

 In News

Purchased for €20,000 from an Auteuil claimer in November for clients Sangwin Holdings Ltd, it’s fair to say Never Risk has come an awful long way in a short space of time!

The son of No Risk At All won a €56,000 handicap hurdle on his second start for his new owners and trainer Hugo Merienne, at Pau in December, and followed that with a close-up fourth in a highly-competitive Quinte at the same course at the beginning of the month.

Three weeks later and having his third start of the winter meeting in Pau, he produced another big career-best effort yesterday, producing an impressive turn of foot to land the €110,000 Prix Rene Cramail.  Given an excellent ride by Gabin Meunier, who is very much the rising star of the weighing room in France, he got the better of multiple Grade 3-placed chaser Ventura Highway in second.

We’ll see what the handicapper does before making any plans, but there’s the option of going chasing now – Gabin is very confident there is more to come and that he will take well to the change of discipline.  Otherwise, we’ll look to a Listed Quinte in Auteuil in mid-February.

He is open to further progress and I’m delighted his owners have another exciting prospect for the season ahead.
