Arqana Online Sale Review

In Nathaniel Barnett Bloodstock News, News

The Arqana March Online Sale featured an interesting catalogue, with the majority of the horses for sale due to a dispersal of the joint racing interests of Haras de Saint-Julien and Regula Vannod.

The top lot was Why Not Again, who had finished third at Chantilly the day before and is a Siyouni daughter of dual Group 1 winner Watch Me.  She fetched €250,000 and was purchased by Yulong Investments, signing under the name Willingham.

I tried on Schikeria from the same consignment, for a client to run on the flat in the UK.  The daughter of Zarak had shown a smart level of form last year prior to injury, but looked in good shape in training and though we pushed a little beyond budget, we had to play second fiddle to Haras de Saint-Julien.

We were also underbidders for another owner on Serpens, an unraced Sea The Moon filly who looked an ideal candidate for the junior national hunt hurdles programme in the UK this autumn.

The three big-ticket offerings from the jumps sphere all failed to sell, with Lombo Sacre and Laccio Conti bought back at €200,000, and Bertutea retained at €250,000.
